Video Games in Target Language

I’ve been playing Animal Crossing New Leaf for since January in English and decided today that I should switch the language the game is in to Spanish to expose myself to plenty of Spanish vocabulary and grammar.

I’ll be sure to let you guys know how it’s been going in a few weeks or so 😎

My favorite feature of the Nintendo Switch is that I can set the System Language to my target language (chinese) and then many games use that language by default. Still have to make a conscious effort to learn though, spent years with Japanese Monster Hunter on my 3DS and learned very little. I wonder if I have ACNL on my 3DS...

One interesting thing I’ve found in the last couple of days is, playing Animal Crossing in Spanish encourages me to slow down when I play the game (which is sort the whole purpose of the series). I want to stop to catch bugs, talk to my villagers, read flavor text etc.

Years ago I picked up a bit of Dutch because of the only copy of pirated Windows I could get my hands on, in Dutch. It was weird.
