CSS is hard >:-( — This is the single biggest reason I’ve avoided getting an actual website setup at myname.com for so many years. So many people have told me to just use some sort of framework, but all I want is just enough to make my site look not hideous and not pull in all sorts of stupid js or unnecessary stuff. Tbh, it’s actually the design part that gets me, even more than the jank that I write as css. I’m not good at deciding things like what colors or fonts look decent. I just want a…

On forking the Web — dillo@fosstodon.org wrote today: After taking a quick look at the "Prompt API" document, I decided to write some design notes towards a fork of the Web. Unsure if it will lead anywhere, but.

RSS or Atom? — What kind of feeds do y'all publish for your HTTP websites? I know that Gemini typically uses lists of links as feeds instead of dedicated feed formats, but I want to publish a dedicated feed for HTTP viewers of my blog. I'd like users to be able to read my blog's feed with the same tools that they consume their other HTTP-space feeds with, and not all tools support Gemini feeds natively. I currently have an Atom feed set up, but I wonder if it's well-supported nowadays?

I thought Mozilla recently injected their weather applet just to make navigation leaks geo-targeted, despite their well-advertised VPN. Suckers.

I recently developed a simple proxy server that operates filtering rules based on a whitelist: [https link] It contains just 51 website exceptions, and after one hour of browsing the web it blocked 90% of traffic: request 1884 blocked 1709

And yet another snap (JSON/API screenshot)

FF 115.20.0 ESR is likely the last useful version without Mozilla's shit. Thanks to PurpleI2P team, I’m using their configuration asset (based on this version) with minimal changes that allow FF to work in multinet mode: [https link] [https link]

OpenIndiana — a cool FOSS unix-like operating system downstream from OpenSolaris. It’s not Linux or *BSD! — [https link] Linux and *BSD too mainstream for you? Check out this awesome unix-like OS I recently discovered. It can work as a server or a workstation and has a rolling release called Hipster. Not a lot of packages but very cool. OpenIndiana comes with a beautiful custom MATE desktop environment. It’s based on Illumos which is downstream from OpenSolaris, which is downstream from...

Just for the Librewolf lovers: I found that its uBlock add-on is still sending requests to Google servers: [https link] I have never trusted solutions that use third-party add-ons to claim they are privacy-oriented. It's all fake, again and again. The only option to control the outgoing connections is to use containers for apps like that.

Really just made this as a test to see if I could actually make a Subspace, turns out I can. Anyways, here's a recreation of the first ever website: [https link]
