Music Theory Stuff
I'm reasonably proud of this thing I put together for my capsule. I don't know if anyone else here knows anything about classical music, but I figure putting out what I can in gemini is a good thing! gemini://bouteloua.fyi/misc/rachop10no1.gmi

Hi, I really loved this write-up. Such a bizzare piano piece! (and very ahead of its time it seems) I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought myself, but reading through your analysis really helped me to pay attention to the rhythms and appreciate it more.

@loopdreams, thank you! It's certainly a very different piece. It's one of many things that's not really in the standard concert repretoire, but is still interesting musically.
During this late Romantic era, there was a lot of... experimentation going on in the music world. Compare Rachmaninoff Op. 28 to Skriabin Op. 53 -- published the same year (1908), but couldn't be any more different in terms of style. The Rachmaninoff sonata is very Romantic era, whereas the Skriabin is pushing on Mondernism. Simultaneously, you've got the weird Impressionists like Debussy and Ravel pushing the envelope, as well.
