"Movie Decimal" is my idea that each TV show and movie can be assigned one or more (usually more than one) Movie Decimal identifications, which is a sequence of digits. Each Movie Decimal number identifies one TV show (either a series or an individual episode) or movie (but a TV show or movie will have multiple Movie Decimal numbers). (This might also be usable for audio recordings and stuff like that too.)
They would have meanings with subclassifications kind of like Dewey Decimal (but different). For example:
- 1 = Title
- 2 = Genre
- 3 = Date
- 4 = Country
- 5 = Kind of shows (series, specials, movies, etc)
- etc.
And then, you can have further digits according to that. For example, if the first digit is 1 then it might be a title (with telephone numbers) followed by 0, e.g. "1536727390" (some unique identifier in case of multiple shows with the same name (or another name that corresponds to the same numbers) might come next, and then the optional episode identifier if applicable).
You could then use the numbers on a TV remote control to easily find and select them; on the screen it tells you what each next digit means, but if you already know then you can enter them quickly. This is my main intention of having such a thing; I would expect that it would be better than existing user interfaces. This system would have other uses too, though.

Sounds a little like using a numpad as an input method for Dasher:
