I mentioned in passing that I wrote a version of Dissociated Press¹
You feed it some text and it returns you a mangled version that almost makes sense, but not quite. My implementation always begins at the beginning which helps for inputs that start with something recognisable. Project Gutenberg is a good place to get suitable texts. Here's what it did with "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde".
Mr. Utterson the lawyer was a man high in public estimation. It was not denied admittance; perhaps, in his heart, he preferred to speak to you, here, in this room, upon the countenance of Jekyll. At all hours of the pit seemed to utter cries and voices; that the amorphous dust gesticulated and sinned; that what was dead, and had no shape, should usurp the offices of life. 1) Dissociated Press is the idea that if you take start with a little of the source text, then find places in the text where the last few words appear and choose one at random, taking the next few words from there.
