2024-04-10 - geminiprotocol.net outage, late news

The geminiprotocol.net Gemini capsule as well as its web and gopher mirrors were unavailable for close to two days from approximatley 21:00 UTC on April 2nd until 17:30 UTC April 4th. Sorry about this! The server was unexpectedly rebooted and for some reason did not receive a DHCP release when it came back up. I didn't realise the situation as early as I (perhaps) might have if it hadn't been the Easter long weekend. Thanks to the person who informed me! At any rate, things have been back up without incident for close to a week now.

A bigger problem than a little bit of unplanned downtime is that while in the process of bringing the server back online I realised that I had neglected to push a series of git commits I made locally on March 31st to the server! As a consequence of this, some rather substantial changes are only become public today with the push of this newspost. Please see the news post linked below. I really did (just!) make good on my earlier committment to have the two part specifications become official within the first quarter of this year!
