The G4 bulb
Replaced an old halogen bulb with an Energizer S18747 LED. Turns out “G4” standardises the pin spacing but not the length of the unit, so the new bulb only barely fits in the space.
The packaging says the bulb will last 15 years, and indeed I can’t remember ever having to replace an LED bulb. I could have bought two for a much better unit price, but I would definitely have lost the spare at some point in the next 15 years, and 15 years’ worth of inflation will destroy the saving anyway.
Do we believe the packaging?
I’ll give an update in 2041.
