There I said it, I don't like darkmode
It is perhaps odd. After all my emacs has been applying the wombat theme for the last decade or so. But apart from my Emacs I don't particularly like white on black. Colleagues all sing the praises of darkmode preferring it but myself I feel disoriented. It's great when every other window is light and your Emacs is dark, you can spot it quickly and return to its warm embrace if by chance you have wandered astray.
Yet the trend feels like its almost pushing for darkmode. Like it's darkmode first and darkmode by default. That might just be me. I could have sweared by gnome desktop was acting in darkmode even when it wasn't. The default look is so dark and dim. I suppose it mirrors the times we live in if nothing else.
All in all I am going to continue to embrace the light. I'm not 20 years old hiding in a poor lit basement drinking Jolt and hacking away. That's just not me.
