I acquired an IBM iSeries model 270 yesterday in pretty alright shape. Starting it up (thankfully it didn't explode) revealed a peculiar power related diagnostic code. 1011 2611 - either PWRREG or TWRCARD according to the service manual. Reading the whole motherboard needed replacement I checked eBay, thankfully they're cheap. But the pictures showed a piece missing on this machine: the voltage regulator! This machine was smart enough to check AND report that component failed EVEN when it's outright not there??? holy shit. amazing! can't wait to fix it up and put it into production!!!
