@justyb SDL is definitely on this side of the spectrum being "having a lot of fun a-ha moments" and "actually being productive" ^.^' I went nuts trying to make a story-oriented 2d walking simulator with it once and after three weeks I got only a fragment shader and a main menu done (compare with like Godot or something which abstracts a lot but you can totally do 48hr jams in) ยท 1 year ago

This is literally how I learned SDL. Just toying around to draw random things.

Ultimately I have to take a more formal approach if I wanted to do something serious with it. But just coding to enjoy creating is incredibly rewarding and sometimes I think it's a requirement of keeping a balance.
