Knowing that the development of the Gemini protocol is complete, I would like to ask an open question: What do you think are the main problems with the Gemini protocol?

It seems to me at least that Gemini is dying underneat the corpse of the machine it inititally built for hype. All of the youtubers, influencers and hipster bloggers pushed it at the same time as being this great new thing broke links, communities and the scene when they all (predictably) lost interest because they weren't getting the attention they craved. I started checking gemini out in 2024 when I downloaded Lagrange for use with gopher sites and when trying to find many of the capsules I saw on YT, blogs only to find they were all already gone, it almost completely pushed me off of Gemini because it appears abandoned. Lack of content, a fair amount of linkrot, and I'm also not sure why we decided to create Gemtext instead of just using Markdown. Apart from that, though, everything seems to be working fine. Β· 2 months ago

@hrdeptgiger, not at all, I love Gemini and my idea is to see how we can help this protocol become better known, although this would also be a topic for discussion. By allowing everyone to express their ideas and opinions, I believe we can increase Gemini's user base or, at least, make it better known, a kind of β€œcommon path,” something far removed from any individual aspect and to which all users can contribute. I only ask questions once a week so that everyone has time to respond πŸ™‚ Β· 2 months ago

One thing that I see a lot on gemini, is that people talk about gemini. Β· 2 months ago

My view is that the problems with Gemini have been done to death already. Since most people using Gemini seem not to see them as problems, or are willing to live with them, I don't think I want to stir things up further. Β· 2 months ago

Meta question, and no offence intended, but are you doing a thing in asking these engagement-baity questions on a weekly schedule? Not saying it’s wrong to have open discussions. Β· 2 months ago
