Just Call Me Babe

Walked the dogs with my partner this morning in indecisive weather. Humid and almost warm, with a cold breeze. I wore a puffer vest over my t-shirt and was warm after a couple of miles.

And I mentioned that autumn is my favourite season (hers is summer) and she mused that there was a lot about me that suggests fall: my colouring, the creeping grey, my autumn-vibing interests, etc.

And because it's Sunday, and because we always play two games of Yahtzee with my in-laws on Sundays, I said, autumn's when I get the most done. Autumn's when I'm at my most powerful. She laughed. And I said, I'm calling my shot, I'm going to win at Yahtzee tonight. Uh huh, she said, we'll see.

And I won the first game with 288 and was thereafter declared to be phony. So I told her, it's okay, I'll place last in the next game. And with 222 points, this also came to pass.
