3 (en) tilde.pink's performance

Thing one:

I want to say something.

Well the solution to this is easy.

I have a gemlog on tilde.pink.

I'll write it on my gemlog.

Thing two:

There is this tool called "sshping"

You might have guessed it.

It measures the latency and the quality of data transmission over an ssh connection.

I want to run sshping on tilde.pink once and publish the results in my gemlog.

The idea behind it is that other members of tilde.pink run sshping as well and publish the results somewhere.

And at the end we have multiple sshping performance reports when sshping is run from different locations on earth.

For everyone to read.

But I'm hesitant to do this.

Here's the problem I'm facing:

What if the sshping run shows results that indicate poor performance?

Should I still publish the results on my gemlog?

Another way to formulate the question is:

Should we be open about the performance of tilde.pink?

Even if there are performance issues?

Because I don't want to come across as shaming tilde.pink for its performance.

I don't want to incite our dear admin to do anything about tilde.pink's performance either.

I know our dear admin is having this project in their spare time.

Also they are providing tilde.pink benevolently to its members / users.

I have tilde.pink.

I'm thankful to our dear admin for it.

So why do I care about publishing the results of the sshping run in my gemlog?

I just want to better assess network performance when connecting to tilde.pink over ssh.

For this I'd like to have performance measurements from different locations on earth.

It could benefit anyone on tilde.pink to know what the ssh connection of other members look like.

It could benefit the admin whether they want to do something about performance or not.

For example if they only want to have a look at the performance but not do anything about it.

So which way should I go?

Should I go on with publishing the results of the sshping test on my gemlog?

Should I send an email with the results to our admin?

Hoping that their email inbox is private.

If I do it like this, this comes with a drawback:

We don't share performance data.

If other members don't publish their results I only have the results of my own sshping run.

I can't look at measurements from different locations on earth.

Other members of tilde.pink also can't.

Only our admin can.

Getting back to the question about which way I should go:

Should I neither publish on my gemlog nor bother the admin with it?
