tilde.team Learning Curve
tilde.team has been pleasant so far. I'm still working up to a level of familiarity and comfort before I engage in chat or any community besides writing here, but the mood is good. In the past few days I've moved my symlinked dotfiles to a repo for syncing to systems like this, remembered IRC, learned byobu and weechat and mutt well enough, and configured them as much as I care to.
The learning curve isn't bad for a long-time shell user. mutt works out of the box, and it wasn't hard to change a few colors and let my home Terminal app's configuration do the heavy lifting of theming. weechat in particular takes study, since it's built as a platform with plugins, and you have to understand which plugin is responsible for the thing you're trying to get help on or configure. In byobu's case I didn't grasp the benefit of it wrapping tmux, and I chose to just eject and use tmux by itself.
Now that I know enough to be dangerous, my options are opening up. Maybe a suitable project would be to write glog entries as files and process them into this site's output. If it looks like I'm really going to keep up the content, maybe I'll make a feed and ask to join CAPCOM.
