I saw myself in the reflection, and I was happy

This occurred to me when I was playing Nintendo Switch. It was an occurrence that is probably all too common for many people. The screen turned black, and in the reflection I could see my self. Typically, this would have excessively saddened me and I would try to move so I wouldn’t have to see myself anymore, but today, something was different:

Not only did I see my self, I saw _myself_. I saw my reflection and I saw the eyes of a girl, and it filled me with hope and determination; it managed to kill off my doubts, even if for a tiny moment only.

I don’t know what changed so that I was actually capable of looking at myself, but maybe things aren’t so hopeless as they seem sometimes.
