Hormone Update #8 (One Year on HRT)
As of December 1st, I have been on hormone therapy for an entire year :D !
My blood values are still not in the desired range, which caused my endocrinologist to wonder about whether estrogen gel might not work for me that well. Perhaps I’m just too stupid to use it correctly, though I think I’m using it right...? I need to ask with some trans folks how they’re using it.
My dosage of antiandrogens had to be changed because 10 mg tablets of Androcur (Cyproterone acetate) were discontinued and no longer available for purchase. I was instead put on the 50 mg tablets, which I have to split into quarters, taking one every two days. This leads to me having an amount of Cyproterone that greatly exceeds my needs. If I manage to never lose any pills (which is very hard because they’re so small!), I will have approximately two years worth of potent anti-androgens with the one small package I have at home.
Going outside and living through daily life is still a little difficult, though I do find it easier to find happiness in my life. Sometimes I just smile after work in the subway because I am looking forward to a few hours of free time. Also, I have started making music again after a long period of creative droughts. I’ve been working on one project very intensely the past few weeks. Here’s to hoping I’ll actually be able to finish it this time! 🤞
