Remote HRT — Hello :3 Does anyone have first hand experience with going thru HRT remotely? If so, I would really love to talk to you. I am living in a country where it is full-on impossible to get HRT but I have a lot of uncertainties about the entire remote HRT world If you want to talk to me personally feel free to send me an email to hello@i-am.love

My English is so bad that "this" was the only word I could think of! 😂 But it was so much fun to see that this kind of game can be built in Geminispace! BBS link: [gemini link]

I just built a misfin server. I tried sending and receiving misfin mails, but it seems that the Japanese and emojis are garbled. [https link] You'll be able to use Japanese on the existing misfin server.

New: Custom Yesterday's Stats — [gemini link] If you played yesterday, check out the link above -- and use the same certificate you played with! You will see your personalized game summary, showing the words you got and the words you missed, and other game stats. I am also providing links to the definitions of every word in Merriam Webster's. This is still beta, but I will probably make this a permanent feature. I am also testing the new libFornax, which I spent all of yesterday working on as…

First post and some tech stack details — I've been pointed over here as a result of a post in the fediverse, [https link] I'd already grabbed Lagrange as a browser, but as my only source of gemini protocol resources was people mentioning them in the fediverse, I'd found it difficult to get a start. Hopefully, having a look around this BBS will help me figure out whether gemtext is rich enough for how I want to write things - although I used to do OK back in the 80s on Usenet! I probably should…

TIL: kakoune, which is like neovim, but not — Just learned about kakoune today. I looks like vim or neovim, but it's very different. The key combos are different, it feels like zero-config and decent out of the box, and it's very snappy, too. Because I'm used to vim key combos, it's a pain to learn something new, but I'm staying curious.

(not (not a-tech-person)) I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I’m (not (not a-tech-person)), but that doesn’t make me (a-tech-person). Like, objectively, I’m pretty techy: I daily drove Gentoo on my laptop in high school, I wrote a neural net from scratch, I had a tech startup with some friends in college, I built a home server running Debian plus samba to share a huge zfs volume plus some containerized services and vms, etc. But I never got really into it like some people do. I just didn’…

I wrote a program to record streams from HLS, in case it is useful to someone. I intended to use so that I could record TV shows and then convert to DVD video format to record onto DVDs, but also may be used to record CBC radio (I do not have a radio receiver on my computer, so I use this instead). It is written in C and it is available in my GitHub account. (Some features are not implemented yet, such as selecting alternative renditions.)

Another flounder gemlog but about my custom bjd doll — Since I don't want to spam the BBS, I want to showcase some recent photos of my custom anime bjd progress, it will take some trial and error for the face at least, I use kitchen gloves and a lot of water to help me work with Nara air dry clay. And when I measure the full doll size, I hope to find clothes that'll fit them. When I'm completely done…

I think when making a nex request, Lagrange (Linux version) doesn't seem to send the query string (the bit after "?") of the URL over the wire. Is that intentional? Or am I missing something?

🚀 lars_the_bear:

I've been trying to make my Gemini capsule available using nex, because why not? Trouble is, nex is weird about where you can use link lines -- it's only in directories, i.e., paths ending in '/'. Since I didn't want to rearrange all my content so that it's organized into a directory hierarcy, I hit on the idea of having all filenames end in "/". Here's a example: [nex link] This works fine with Lagrange, but Alhena asks where I want to save the file, rather than displaying it. While I…

Infinite money glitch — Yo what up fam squad, it's me yo boy Donny T and I've got an infinite money glitch for you to use in USA. Ok so I'm gonna gloss over the hard part, getting to be president, because if you're watching this tutorial, you already are. Anyways it's very simple to use the infinite money glitch. You sue the government you're the head of and then settle with yourself! Easy! You get free money! (Ignoring that it is tax payer money but you don't know them so it's easy!) And if…

Digital Asceticism and Digital Intentionalism — Problem Statement I'm like many feel informational overload and constant unhappiness at the state of things. Being practical I searched for the root cause and possible solutions. Rather quickly I found out that the Internet itself is the source of that unhappiness. But why? How can a thing that was so much fun when I was a teenager now be a source of displeasure? Could it be because developing the web is now my full-time job? But then I wouldn't…

Fixed the printer, feeling good — So I have this medium-old ink printer sitting on the shelf and it’s just new enough to support AirPrint, which is great. It glitched once and lost the connection to the wireless hub, thus becoming unavailable to the rest of the network and forcing everyone in this house into a choice: either do a direct connection dance every time they needed to print a page or choose not to. And you can probably already guess where it’s going, but here I’m gonna say it: most…

🌒 s/Fornax

🚀 stack:

libfornax is coming — After realizing just how annoying it is to deal with customizing current Fornax with just C source, I've taken the plunge to make it a library, libfornax. I have it now working with the simple Gemini (file) server example in about 100 lines of C, mostly dealing with parsing the command line and logging. I am very excited about this repackaging (and some cleanup) as I noticed that every time I want to make something in Geminispace, be it a game or spaced repetitiona…

Does anyone here know "Kin-iro Mosaic" (Kinmoza)? — I really love it, but is it true that it's popular outside of Japan as well? For those of you who like it, what exactly made it catch on with international fans? I'd love to know what aspects of the show hooked you! Ayaya-! Just as a side note, I’ll leave one of my favorite videos here. It’s a fan-made video set to a song by a famous Japanese musician. What I absolutely love about it is how they used "Jinriki Vocaloid" (manually editing…

Okay two questions: What's the deal with Isekai manga? And more broadly, what's the deal with being embarassed or made fun of about which manga you read/don't? I guess I don't get the social dynamics. I'm asking as a total foreigner, and so please don't read any condemnation into the question. I may not be phrasing it the best way. But I'm curious.
