Are any of you guys able to navigate around somewhere completely blind, for example your house?
I’m wondering since around 2 years after a TBI, I began to develop an ability to walk around my house without requiring much sight (despite being known as the clumsy guy beforehand), and I began practicing a minimal amount, and now, 3 years after the injury I can pretty much go anywhere in the house blind, despite me having not much of a reason to.

That’s actually a pretty cool set of visual aids, and I haven’t heard of IR cameras being used in this way before. It seems like this system works pretty well for you :)
I personally use different methods, where I focus more on aligning with “touch anchors” (wall corners, railings, etc), feeling humidity and temperature, and the sounds of moving on different surfaces. It’s likely that my sensory sensitivities and abnormal spatial memory helped to bring this about, which also explains why I’m awful at moving in the day, since my family puts everything on high volume lol. · 1 day ago

Ive also managed to develop such strong research ability that I’ve even narrowed down unlisted ingredients in drink sachets that were causing me physical irritation (namely Maltodextrin and Diacetyl), which also ties into the relentless self-studying I’ve been doing for the past 5 months. This has also allowed me to understand where I’m not at my best, namely during overwhelm, imparted ability to know when to eat or drink, and sensory sensitivities to the standard set of senses but with inclusion of air pressure and humidity occasionally. · 1 day ago

Haha I suppose it is. I’ve also had the ability to read very fast since November last year, where I found that I was faster somehow, then began to improve it enough to reach around 1000wpm, with some comprehension issues forcing me to read multiple times, in preparation for end of year exams before graduation of high school.

@leafbeef yes, i can do that, for i am going slightly blind i never turn on lights, i count steps, wear sunglasses all time and use some red light head gear. as a backup, i have a IR bodycam on my wrist. and of course my beloved cat who is not afraid of the beast in the dark 2 minutes to midnight xD · 1 day ago
